This might be enough to bring tears to avid fanfic readers eyes – I know I feel like crying. I’ve lost all my fanfiction.
Over the years any stories that I’ve enjoyed I’ve saved to disc so I can read them again and again and again. Generally I convert them to PDB format so I can read them on my palm and then save them.
Well I just went to upload a few more stories to my reader – opened my disc and they’ve all gone. I don’t know what happened. I do sort of remember a week or so ago I went to write some new files to the disc so just clicked the write to disc button and thought nothing more of it. Now they’ve all gone and as far as I can see it’s not that I can’t open the disc it’s that they’ve all been deleted. And again I say – I don’t know what happened – but it’s enough to make me cry.
While I can get some of those stories back easy enough – many of them are no longer available online – even if I try the wayback machine. And remembering just what I had on there.
As for right now, I seem to have something in my eye.

This is horrible! I hope you found a way to get them back! Could you please tell me how you convert your fic to PDB format? I have been trying to figur this out and having absolutely no luck. I want to convert fic from websites and from PDF files I have. Any help would be so much appreciated!
Hi,
I’ve slowly started getting them all back.
To convert to .pdb there’s a few programs you can use – once quick and easy one is makedoc. Sorry though, I don’t have the links to where I found them anymore.
On my fanfiction ebooks page http://fanfic-4all.com/ebooks.html there’s links to a couple of other programs that will help you create/read in different formats if you’re interested.
Or you can send me through some of what you’re after and I’ll contact the authors and if they allow it I’ll add them to the site.
