Time.com has put out a list of the 100 best tv shows of all time and while it’s certainly a comprehensive list it’s missing a few that I figured would’ve earnt a mention. Of course there’s some shows on the list I’ve never heard of before too (while we Aussies get a lot of American and a few British etc tv shows we don’t get them all) so with that in mind I bring forth the reason for this post

We all have our favourite television shows, whether old or new, that we just can’t or wouldn’t miss (or if we do we scour the internet for tidbits and spoilers - that’s how I first got into reading fanfic) but what are your favourites?

If you had to name your top 10 what would they be?

I’m going to try and name mine right now (I’ve only just seen the Time article so haven’t really given this much thought, but I thought it would be interesting to name a top 10 quickly and then see whether or how much I need to edit it after a couple of days contemplation)

These are in no particular order:

A Country Practice - an old Australian show that I used to absolutely love - from memory it was on Wednesday nights at 7:30 and it was, I think, the only show my whole family used to sit and watch together

Xena - While I watched it on and off to start with, I eventually grew to love it. In fact the last season (season 6) was on here at 2:30 in the morning (grrr at channel 10) and while I always set my tape for it - there was the odd time I’d be up to watch it.

Buffy - Gotta love the action women shows for the longest time I didn’t tell anyone I watched this (it was like my guilty little secret) then I got really hooked and didn’t care who paid me out about it Another show though that unfortunately got put into a later time slot (grr on channel 7 this time) but not so late that I couldn’t stay up to watch it.

Bionic Woman - sensing a theme here yet. When I was younger I totally loved this show and am now enjoying the new version.

er - while I don’t watch it now (if it’s even still on here in Aust.) when it first started I was hooked immediately. Loved it and would have to race home from my sport to watch it.

Wow this is harder than I thought

Friends - Gotta love this show, even now when watching the re-runs I still chuckle away at it (though I never really enjoyed the whole Rachel/Joey thing)

Grey’s Anatomy - One of my new favourites - though I really liked Addison and since she’s in that new show now it’ll be interesting to see if this stays in my must watch list once it starts again - though with Christina, George and Izzy I’m bound to still enjoy it.

Brothers And Sisters - Started after Grey’s last year and I got into that pretty quickly too

Kath and Kym (and Sharon) - An Aussie comedy show that is wonderful - I loved these guys in pretty much anything they did on Fast Forward too

I could probably put a reality show in here too but since they change from season to season and sometimes they’re crap depending on who is in it - and whether or not I start watching from the beginning or not until things start to heat up; but Survivor (though grrr on channel 9 for making it late at night last season) Amazing Race, sometimes Australian Idol

Is that 10 yet

Now I’ll go away and really think about it - see how different it is when I come back to it.
