The Facts of Life was  a spin-off of Diff'rent Strokes, which featured Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae), who in turn became the housemother of a dormitory at Eastland, a private all-girls school. The young ladies in her care included spoiled rich girl Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel), tough street kid Jo Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon), gossipy Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey (Kim Fields), and impressionable Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn).
