Review of: Journey’s End

Journey’s End is the first in a three part series of Conqueror stories. These stories are a little different to the many other Conqueror stories you can find online as they show Xena as a little older and having already ruled for twenty odd years is ready (well sort of) for a change. She doesn’t want to be the violent person she has been, though she still has setbacks (her dark and violent past can’t be changed overnight.) It’s while she’s contemplating these changes that she’s offered her pick of slaves as a gift from one of her governors. Knowing she must choose (even if she doesn’t really want to) it’s here she encounters a young girl who will help the conqueror back onto the path she so desperately wants to be on.

This, and the other two novel length stories in the series are some of my favourite Xena The Conqueror stories (in fact any story written by L.J.Maas ranks incredibly high in my list – her Queen series is also wonderful)

The Xenaverse lost a truly gifted bard with the passing of LJ several years ago. If you haven’t read any of her work whether it’s her online stories or her published novels I strongly urge you to do so. You won’t regret it.

Character Development: Awesome character development

Plot: Awesome plot with many twists and turns

Imagery: Pretty great imagery

Addiction Factor: Very highly addictive

Sex Factor: Actually there was no sex. One kiss, and some thoughts, but no
sex

Summary:

The Conqueror heads to Rome. Her intentions are to take out Caesar. While in
Rome, she meets the Leopard of Rome, a blonde haired, green eyed gladiator.
She ends up buying her as a slave.

Thoughts of story:

This story was amazing. I was stuck on it from the beginning, and couldn't
stop reading. These were our girls, but not.if that makes sense. They both
were so different, yet they were like the women we knew and loved. The most
interesting thing I found was that Gabrielle doesn't speak. She has learned
the price of silence (hence the title) from Caesar, so she barely talks, but
for some reason, being around Xena, her voice finds wings. They go through
many trials, broken bones, bodies, spirits, and assassination plots. The
author brings in some old favorites, Terreis, Ephiny, Amarice, Joxer, Marcus
and a few others. You wouldn't be disappointed if you decided to read this
story.

Review of: Negotiations

Story found:  Negotiations  Sequels under Gin

Negotiations is the first part of a three part series, and in my mind really just a set up for the other two lengthier stories. In this first part, Xena is invited to the Amazon nation by the Queen, Gabrielle. Who would rather settle things peacefully than go to war. While things seem to happen incredibly quickly in this first part, it is well done. The story ties in some of the regular Xena history and is a pleasant and quick read.
